Bridlewood

Settled in the early 19th century, Kanata’s Bridlewood-Emerald Meadows neighbourhood is bordered by the Greenbelt in the north, Hope Side Road in the south, the Greenbelt and Richmond Road to the east, and Eagleson Road to the west. The area remained mainly agricultural until residential development began in the 1970’s. Bridlewood-Emerald Meadows has enjoyed steady growth ever since, and today is home to more than 22,000 people.

With newer affordable homes, and convenient access to childcare and schools, this friendly neighbourhood has families in mind. Modern suburban planning offers proximity to the Greenbelt and access to numerous biking and hiking nature trails that reach over 30 kilometers all the way to Stittsville. While Bridlewood-Emerald Meadows continues to enjoy new growth, the well thought out local parks and protected Green Space will ensure it retains its rural charm.

Sports participation plays a significant role in Bridlewood. The Bridlewood Community Association estimates participation of over 800 children in the various soccer programs, and the Association also sponsors 9 outdoor skating rinks in the neighbourhood.

In addition to being a family neighbourhood, the Bridlewood area also includes the Pine Hill Estates adult-oriented community which consists of freehold attached bungalows. Established in the mid-1990s, the area is notable for its mature trees and well-tended lots that reflect great pride of ownership.

Local businesses such as restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, Health Centers, Goodlife Fitness, Spas and Hair Studios all play an integral part of the neighbourhood. Just a short 15 minute drive brings you to the heart of Ottawa’s High Tech Business Sector, once aptly named Silicon Valley North, or to the new Department of National Defence Carling Campus.
